Premier Division Set for Intense Battle as Six Teams Vie for Glory

The Premier Division of the table tennis league is set to witness an intense battle for glory, as six formidable teams take the court at the Aldersley Sports Village in Wolverhampton. Let’s dive into the teams and the athletes who will be vying for the coveted title.

Drumchapel Glasgow Ladies 1: Defending Champions Aim to Retain the Crown

Drumchapel Glasgow Ladies 1, the reigning champions, are determined to defend their crown. Despite losing the services of Yat Poon, who finished second in last season’s averages, they still boast a strong lineup. Jersey international Hannah Silcock, Bethany O’Connell, and Alicja Czarnomska, three of their star players from the previous season, are back to lead the charge for back-to-back titles. Joining the team this year is Ella Pashley, the Senior Women’s number 4, who is no stranger to the Premier Division, having played for Ormesby last year.

Ormesby TTC 1: Strategic Additions Strengthen the Runners-Up

Last season’s runners-up, Ormesby TTC 1, have made some strategic additions to their roster. With Ella Pashley now playing for Drumchapel, Ormesby has brought in two Welsh internationals, Lowri Hurd and Lara Whitton, who currently sit just outside the top 10 in the senior women’s ratings. Homegrown player Rebecca Savage, who finished last season with a 50% average, completes the Ormesby lineup.

Dun Laoire Ladies 1: Mia O’rahilly Egan Leads the Charge

Dun Laoire Ladies 1, the team that finished 4th last year, will once again be led by Mia O’rahilly Egan, the player with the highest average in the Premier Division last season. Mia’s exceptional performance, losing only once, saw her top the individual averages table. Joining Mia are returning players Sabina Devereux and Anjali Singh, as well as Sara Williams, the number 1 ranked English Veteran, who has been named in their team list for the 24/25 season.

Fusion 1: Determined to Reclaim the Title

They will be bolstered by the presence of U21 National Champion Tianer Yu and current Tsz Yan Nancy Yeh, ranked number 7 on the ratings list. Maria Engelson and Elena Todirca, who played in every match for Fusion last season, each winning 55% of their games and earning 4 player of the match titles between them, will also be back in action.

Draycott 1: Formidable Young All-Star Lineup

Draycott 1, the Division 1 Champions from the 2023-24 season, have made the jump to the Premier Division and have assembled a formidable young all-star lineup. In addition to last year’s regulars, Naomi Coker, Millie Rogove, and Mabel Shute, they have added Anna Green, the Junior National Champion with extensive international experience, and former Women’s Singles National Championships runner-up, Mari Baldwin. Draycott’s wealth of talent makes them a team to watch closely.
