Ormesby Cement Dominance with Resounding 7-0 Victory over North Ayrshire
Ormesby, the Cleveland-based table tennis team, have continued to cement their status as the squad most likely to dethrone Brighton in the Senior British League Clubs Premier Division. In their latest outing, they delivered a resounding 7-0 thrashing of North Ayrshire, dropping a mere two ends on their way to this dominant victory.
This was a comfortable afternoon for Ormesby, who rarely faced any significant challenges from a North Ayrshire side missing three of their key players – Martin Johnson, Colin Dalgleish, and Viktor Gorman. North Ayrshire’s lineup consisted of Chris Main, Jamie Johnson, and Billy Shilton.
“The tone was set early on, as David McBeath and Benjamin Piggott secured straight-game wins over Johnson and Main, respectively,” commented the team’s spokesperson.
Piggott, who had impressed in his previous outing against BATTS, continued his strong form by proving too consistent for the injured Main. The Ormesby duo then won the doubles match against Johnson and Shilton, making the outcome of the tie appear inevitable.
Graeme Barella Seals the Victory
Graeme Barella, filling in for the team, ensured the victory was sealed, dropping just one end to Shilton in his three-game triumph. Although Main put up a spirited fight against McBeath, saving four match points in the fourth game before narrowly missing out on a decider, Ormesby were ultimately too strong, making it a 5-0 win.
Barella and Piggott then completed the rout, proving too good for Johnson and Shilton, as Ormesby secured a comprehensive victory. With this result, Ormesby maintain their perfect record of three wins from three matches, while North Ayrshire are still searching for their first victory of the season.
