Chelmsford Junior League Sees Divisional Titles Decided
Chelmsford, April 23, 2024 – Week 31 of the Chelmsford Junior League witnessed the crowning of champions in divisions 2B and 2C, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season.
In division 2A, the Hutton Hawks inched closer to the title with a convincing 4-1 home victory over the Chelmsford Cougars. Charlie Ware’s dominant 3-0 wins in both his matches proved crucial, while Ben Robinson secured the sole point for the visitors. Elsewhere, the Chelmsford Eagles kept their hopes alive by edging past the Buttsbury Bears 3-2, with Joshua Freeman’s perfect 12-0 record this season helping the hosts.
The Hutton Harriers secured the division 2B championship with a comprehensive 5-0 home win over the Chelmsford Tigers. Billy Andrews and Martis Heyes were undefeated, contributing greatly to the Harriers’ title-clinching performance. The Buttsbury Bulldogs also recorded a 5-0 triumph over the Chelmsford Leopards, keeping them in contention for the division.
The Chelmsford Panthers were crowned champions of division 2C after a narrow 3-2 victory over their clubmates, the Chelmsford Jaguars, in a winner-take-all contest. Nathanael Slade’s impressive 8-0 record this season proved pivotal, as he helped the Panthers edge out the Jaguars in the decisive doubles match.
In division 2D, the undefeated Buttsbury Bats continued their dominant run with a 4-1 away win over the Chelmsford Lions, cementing their position as the division’s frontrunners. The Chelmsford Pumas, however, suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Hutton Hares, with some close encounters going the distance.
As the Chelmsford Junior League season progresses, the battle for divisional titles and promotion spots promises to intensify in the coming weeks.
