Dominant Duo Maintain Winning Streaks in Braintree Table Tennis League Division Three
The formidable teams of Finchingfield A and Sudbury Strollers continue to assert their dominance in the third division of the Braintree Table Tennis League, maintaining their unbeaten runs.
Finchingfield A have secured victories in all five of their matches, while Sudbury Strollers have won all four of their encounters so far. The much-anticipated clash between these two powerhouses is set to take place on November 27, promising an electrifying showdown.
Finchingfield A: Commanding Performances
Finchingfield A currently lead the division, having only dropped four points. Their recent victories include convincing 9-1 and 10-0 wins over Black Notley I and Netts E, respectively. John Barrett and the promising 16-year-old Lucien Nolan-Bradford remained undefeated against Notley I, with Ben Southgate securing the sole point for the opposition. Barrett was joined by Ray Bradford and Stewart Grant in their dominant display against Netts E.
Sudbury Strollers: Consistent Victories
Sudbury Strollers have also been in fine form, securing wins against Netts F (7-3) and Rayne H (8-2). Natalie Dodd, David Hitchen, and Richard Kemp were instrumental in these triumphs.
Other Notable Performances
Notley G sit third in the standings, following victories over Yeldham Whitlocks B (7-3) and Finchingfield B (6-4). Peter Davenport remained unbeaten in both matches.
Finchingfield B suffered a 6-4 loss to Rayne G, where no player could match Stewart Grant’s unbeaten performance.
At the lower end of the table, a tight battle is unfolding, with just five points separating four teams. Netts E and Notley I have fared the best in the recent two-week period, with Netts E defeating Notley H 8-2 and Notley I overcoming an inexperienced Netts F team 8-2.
Cup Competitions
In the team knock-out cup, Rayne B secured an 8-1 victory over Rayne E, while Sudbury Nomads triumphed 5-2 against Notley B. Rayne E’s Matthew Brown recorded a notable win, and Aron Jordan remained unbeaten for Nomads.
In the restricted cup, second division teams Netts C, Rayne F, and Netts D emerged victorious against their division-three counterparts, showcasing the depth of talent in the league.
The closest match of the tournament was Notley F’s 5-4 win over Yeldham A, where Mel Cooch and Elliot Game clinched the decisive final doubles match in a thrilling five-game encounter.
