Swee Kiat Lim and Vincenzo Chiarella, both with aspirations to become Level 3 (International) umpires, will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience at the competition next month.

Swee Kiat Lim, who completed his Level 2 qualification at the Mark Bates Ltd Cadet, U17 & Junior National Championships, expressed his excitement about this milestone in his umpiring career.

“As this is my first overseas table tennis umpiring duty, I am thrilled to embark on this remarkable journey. This role represents a significant step not only in my umpiring career but also in promoting international diversity within the sport.”

Lim’s focus will be on maintaining high integrity and dedication to ensure fair play and sportsmanship in every match he officiates.

Vincenzo Chiarella, who qualified at the Mark Bates Ltd U10-13 National Championships, is equally honored by the selection.

“I am truly honored to have been chosen among many dedicated umpires for my first international event in Montenegro. This selection is a significant step in my development journey, and I look forward to improving my skills and learning as much as I can from this experience.”

Chiarella sees this opportunity as a way to showcase the high level of preparation and seriousness that Table Tennis England umpires bring to the sport, and he hopes to inspire others who are passionate about table tennis.

Both umpires are eager to learn from their peers and contribute to the vibrant table tennis community in Podgorica. They believe this experience will not only enhance their own knowledge and skills but also allow them to bring valuable insights back to their local tournaments, where they aim to set even higher standards for umpiring.
