The table tennis community and the wider sporting world are grieving the passing of Sir Jack Petchey CBE, who peacefully departed this world on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 98.
Through the Jack Petchey Foundation, Sir Jack’s remarkable philanthropic work has empowered and inspired countless young people in London and Essex to excel in sports, dance, music, and public speaking. This includes the thousands who have found joy and success in table tennis during the 12-year partnership between the Foundation and Table Tennis England.
“Sir Jack was a familiar face at the Team and Individual Finals for many years, where he relished meeting the competitors, coaches, volunteers, and staff. He also showcased his own table tennis prowess, a sport he had enjoyed in his younger days, as the accompanying photo attests.”
