Rising table tennis star Tianer Yu showcased her talent at the recent WTT Youth Contender event in Spa, Belgium. The young player, currently ranked 85th in the world junior rankings, made a strong impression in the Under-17 Girls’ Singles category.
Yu breezed through her qualifying group without dropping a single game.

After securing a bye in the last 64, she continued her dominant performance, defeating Louane Bataille of France 3-0 in the round of 32. However, her impressive run came to an end in the next round, as she fell to South Korea’s Lee Dahye (ranked 356th) in three straight games.
In the Under-19 Girls’ Singles event, Yu faced a tougher challenge. She was unable to make it through the group stage, falling to a lower-ranked opponent from South Korea as well as world No. 135 Jeanne Robbes of France.
Despite the mixed results, Tianer Yu’s performance at the WTT Youth Contender in Spa has showcased her potential and her determination to excel in the world of table tennis. With her strong performance in the younger category and her experience gained in the Under-19 event, Yu is sure to continue her climb up the junior rankings and make a name for herself in the years to come.
