British Clubs Leagues: A New Era for Table Tennis in the UK
On July 4, 2024, Table Tennis England announced the launch of the British Clubs Leagues, a bold new initiative that brings together the British League and the National Cadet and Junior Leagues under a single umbrella. This restructuring, which will be implemented starting from the 2024/25 season, is part of the National Competition Review and aims to provide a more cohesive and efficient experience for all participants, from entry-level to the Premier Division.
Rebranding for a Fresh Identity
The new British Clubs Leagues will feature distinct branding and logos for the Senior, Veterans, Women’s, and Youth sections, creating a family-like identity and a fresh, distinctive appearance. This rebranding will be rolled out across digital assets and event documentation in the coming weeks, leading up to the start of the new season.
“The new brand will help raise the profile of the league competitions and attract more interest from participants, fans, and commercial partners,” said Keely Armitt, Head of Engagement at Table Tennis England.
Integrating Leagues for Improved Experience
The British Clubs Leagues will encompass the national merit league structure open to all clubs, counties, and teams from across the Home Countries, as well as the regular, flexible, entry-level, locally delivered events for clubs and teams. The integration of the National Cadet League (NCL), National Junior League (NJL), and British League under the new umbrella is designed to increase efficiency and provide an improved experience for hosts and entrants.
Streamlining Processes and Support
Some of the anticipated changes to achieve a consistent and more effective approach include:
- Evolved Table Tennis England staff support for volunteers, hosts, and entrant clubs
- Common documentation, regulations, and entry/payment processes
- Integrated committee support
- Rebranding
