Cabot Circus Transforms into Vibrant Table Tennis Hub During Olympic Festivities
Bristol, August 2, 2024 – The Olympic Fanzone at Cabot Circus has become a hub of table tennis excitement leading up to the upcoming Para Olympics. The Fanzone, nestled in the picturesque Quakers Friar, offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for both seasoned players and newcomers to enjoy the sport.
The area features a large screen for spectators to follow the Olympic action, as well as several table tennis tables available for public use from 10 AM to 8 PM daily. This dynamic setup has already attracted a diverse crowd of table tennis enthusiasts, fostering a sense of community around the beloved sport.
The launch of the Fanzone on July 26th was marked by a special appearance from local player Louis Price, who currently resides in Germany. Price demonstrated his impressive skills, ran a “Beat the Pro” challenge, and shared valuable tips with members of the public and local players alike. The energy and enthusiasm he brought to the event have continued to resonate, with Price even returning on Monday to further engage with the community.
“Coffee, cake, watching the Olympics, and a game or two of table tennis – what could be better?” enthused Amanda Leonard, Table Tennis England’s Area Manager for the South West region. “The Fanzone is creating a real buzz, with both new and established players enjoying the experience.”
Table tennis enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their own bats to the Fanzone, but those without equipment can borrow from the available supplies on-site. Additionally, the Fanzone will host a series of organized activities to celebrate the upcoming Para Olympics, set to commence on August 28th.
