London Academy won three titles and Charles Read Academy two at the Butterfly School Team Championships in Wolverhampton. The top schools in the country were decided, with Fox Primary School, Chellaston Academy, and Grantham College also finding success.
In the Under-11 category, London Academy defended the Martin Foulser Cup, overcoming several opponents to reach the final against Fox Primary. The match came down to the wire, with London Academy prevailing 5-2.
Fox Primary gained revenge in the Irene Elliott Cup, defeating London Academy 5-3 in a dramatic final to claim the title.
London Academy’s third triumph came in the Under-13 boys’ event, as the team of Yacoub Rahmani-Walentynska, Adam Riadi, Connor Godley, Stefan Pop, and Lewis Macsween won the T Austin Harrison Cup.
Charles Read Academy enjoyed a successful day, securing the Mick Betts Memorial Cup in the girls’ competition and the Leach-Carrington Cup in the boys’ event, dethroning the defending champions London Academy in both categories.
Chellaston Academy from Derbyshire were dominant in the Claud Kichenside Cup, winning all three matches 5-0 and only dropping two games throughout the day.
Grantham College also defended their title, clinching the Norman Cook Cup with ease, showcasing their strength in depth.
The Butterfly School Team Championships once again provided a platform for the country’s top table tennis talent to shine, with several schools emerging as champions in their respective categories.
