Immediately following the Class 14 final, the spotlight will shift to the Class 5 Women’s Doubles gold medal match at 21:00 GMT+2. Korea Republic’s Seo Su Yen and Yoon Jiyu booked their spot in the final by overpowering Brazil’s Caria Oliveira and Joyce Oliveria in straight sets (11-6, 11-9, 13-11).
Their opponents in the final will be China’s Liu Jing and Xue Juan, who mounted a remarkable comeback against Thailand’s Dararat Asayut and Chilchitparyak Bootwansirina. After dropping the first set, the Chinese pair rallied to win 3-1 (9-11, 13-11, 12-10, 11-7).
“At the beginning of the game, we had no better way to face the opponent’s attack. Our backhand didn’t have many opportunities. We were a little anxious in the stalemate and made a lot of mistakes. In the second game, we adapted to the opponent’s rhythm, focusing on stability, we will take the initiative to seek changes. We will face the Korean team in the final tonight. We have never played against each other before, and we will work hard,” said Liu and Xue.
