Amber Lemmon, Violet-Lily Marquis, Dimitar Dimitrov, and Pablo Ramirez Rioja showcased their table tennis prowess, securing singles titles in the Under-11 and Under-13 categories at WV Active Wolverhampton. Additionally, sisters Soraya & Serene Rahmani-Walentynska and the duo of Theo Kniep & Teagan Khazal clinched the Under-13 doubles titles.
Dimitrov Dominates in Under-13 Boys’ Singles
Dimitar Dimitrov, the top seed, lived up to the billing, clinching the Under-13 boys’ singles title with a convincing 3-1 (11-8, 11-8, 11-7) victory over second seed Li Hao Chen in the final. Dimitrov’s flawless performance saw him navigate the tournament without dropping a single game.
Lemmon Cruises to Under-11 Girls’ Singles Crown
Top seed Amber Lemmon showcased her dominance in the Under-11 girls’ singles event, emerging victorious without conceding a game throughout the day. Lemmon’s teammate, Cindy Xiao, the second seed, had no answer to Lemmon’s clinical display, as the champion won the final 11-6, 11-6, 11-6.
Ramirez Rioja Prevails in Tightly Contested Under-13 Boys’ Singles
In the Under-13 boys’ singles, top seed Pablo Ramirez Rioja narrowly edged past the unseeded Teagan Khazal in a hard-fought 3-1 (13-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-7) victory to claim the title. Ramirez Rioja had to dig deep in the semi-finals, prevailing 3-2 (18-16, 9-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6) over fourth seed Aarav Parihar.
Marquis Secures Under-13 Girls’ Singles Crown
Third seed Violet-Lily Marquis clinched the Under-13 girls’ singles title, defeating fourth seed Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska in a convincing 3-0 (12-10, 11-9, 11-6) victory. Marquis had earlier knocked out second seed Alyssa Nguyen in the semi-finals.
Rahmani-Walentynskas Triumph in U13 Girls’ Doubles
In a thrilling Under-13 girls’ doubles final, the third-seeded pair of Soraya & Serene Rahmani-Walentynska overcame a spirited fightback to defeat Assil Sarri & Alyssa Nguyen 3-2 (13-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-10, 11-9), saving four match points in the process.
Khazal & Kniep Clinch U13 Boys’ Doubles Title
The final match of the day saw Teagan Khazal and Theo Kniep clinch the Under-13 boys’ doubles title in a closely contested 3-2 (11-9, 11-4, 13-15, 10-12, 13-11) victory over Zihan Lin and Lewis Wu, who put up a valiant effort before succumbing to the champions.
