In a thrilling display of table tennis prowess, Connor Green, currently ranked No. 96 in the world junior rankings, battled back from the brink of elimination to reach the quarter-finals of the WTT Youth Contender Spa in Belgium. Green’s remarkable performance showcased his resilience and skill on the table tennis table.
The young talent began his campaign by narrowly escaping defeat in the first round, coming back from a 2-0 deficit against Jung Daeyoung of South Korea (WR 518) to win 3-2 (5-11, 9-11, 14-12, 11-6, 11-5).
Green’s tenacity continued as he faced Slovakia’s Samuel Palusek (WR 48) in the last 32 of the Under-19 Boys’ Singles. In a tightly contested match, Green prevailed 3-2 (11-7, 8-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9), showcasing his ability to adapt and overcome adversity.
The young table tennis player then produced an even more impressive victory, defeating world No. 24 and third seed Celian Besnier of France 3-1 (11-9, 13-11, 3-11, 11-8) in the round of 16. This triumph propelled Green into the quarter-finals, where he faced the formidable Lee Hoyun of South Korea, ranked No. 33 in the world.

Elsewhere in the competition, Dimitar Dimitrov emerged victorious in the round-robin Under-11 Boys’ Singles, winning all three of his matches and dropping only one game in the process. Abraham Sellado (WR 327) and Max Radiven (WR 425) also put in impressive performances, with Sellado reaching the last 16 of the under-15s and Radiven advancing to the last 32.
