ITTF Announces Dates for the Highly Anticipated ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2024
In a thrilling announcement, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has revealed the dates for the highly anticipated ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2024. This groundbreaking event will take place from 1st to 8th December 2024 in Chengdu, China, serving as the year’s grand finale, where players from around the globe will converge in mixed teams for an ultimate showdown to cap off the season.
Following the resounding success of the inaugural edition last year, Chengdu will once again provide the stage for this captivating event, which promises to enthrall players and fans alike with its unique format and celebration of gender equality and teamwork.
“The Mixed Team World Cup is quickly becoming a flagship event for the ITTF, showcasing our commitment to gender equality and promoting a spirit of unity within our sport,” said Petra Sörling, ITTF President. “We are incredibly excited to return to Chengdu and continue building this new legacy.”
As the first team to lift the prestigious Guoliang-Sörling Trophy in 2023, China etched their name in history, emerging victorious in this innovative mixed team format. The encounters, featuring a unique combination of men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches, not only champion gender equality but also underscore the spirit of collaboration and teamwork that defines the sport.
Liu Guoliang, ITTF Deputy President and CTTA President, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Following the success of the first ITTF Mixed Team World Cup last year, Chengdu will again host the event from 1st to 8th December this year. Chengdu is a city full of charm and hospitality, as well as excellent event organization and coordination ability.
