The road to the Paris 2024 Olympics is set to intensify as the world’s top mixed doubles table tennis pairs converge in Havirov, Czechia, for the highly anticipated World Mixed Doubles Table Tennis Olympic Qualification tournament on April 11 and 12.

With 26 talented duos vying for just four available quotas, the competition promises a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and determination. Seasoned veterans and rising stars alike will take to the tables, each team driven to secure their spot at the prestigious Paris Games.

The tournament’s unique two-stage format will push the athletes to their limits. On the opening day, the pairs will be divided into knockout brackets based on their seedings, with the winners of each bracket earning direct qualification for Paris 2024. The remaining 24 teams will return the following day, seeded according to their previous performances, to compete for the final two Olympic quotas.

Among the standouts in the field are Romania’s Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs, who will be looking to build on their impressive showing at the Tokyo 2020 Games. They will face stiff competition from the likes of Spain’s Alvaro Robles and Maria Xiao, Hong Kong’s Chun Ting Wong and Hoi Kem Doo, and the Hungarian duo of Nandor Ecseki and Dora Madarasz.
