The annual Euro Mini Championships, hosted in Schiltigheim, France, saw an impressive showing from young English table tennis players. Dimitar Dimitrov and Alyssa Nguyen secured top-20 finishes, while Amber Lemmon also made it through to the main draw, showcasing the depth of talent in the country.

The tournament, which featured over 400 athletes born in 2011 or 2013, included players from across France and an international contingent. Dimitrov, competing in the 2013 boys’ category, emerged as the highest-placed English finisher, taking 11th place after winning all 10 of his group matches and advancing to the round of 16.

In the 2011 girls’ event, Nguyen reached the knockout stage before falling to Ceren Kahraman of Turkiye in a close 3-2 encounter. She then won two matches in the 17-32 bracket to finish in 20th position. Lemmon, England’s sole representative in the 2013 girls’ competition, also made it to the knockouts with a perfect record in the group stages, ultimately finishing 26th.

Other English players, including Hannah Saunders, Violet-Lily Marquis, Pablo Ramirez Rioja, and Aarav Parihar, also produced commendable results, with several reaching the consolation events and finishing within the top 16.

“The tournament, which serves as a platform for the development of young table tennis talent, once again showcased the promising future of the sport in England. The players’ performances, marked by determination and skill, have undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the international stage.”
