British Table Tennis Players Shine at ITTF Slovenia Para Open
On the final day of the ITTF Slovenia Para Open in Lasko, the British table tennis players showcased their talent and resilience. In the men’s class 18 doubles, the all-GB final saw Aaron McKibbin and Joshua Stacey claim the gold medal, while Ashley Facey and Ross Wilson took silver.
The British team displayed impressive form throughout the tournament, with several impressive comebacks. McKibbin and Stacey overcame a tough semi-final against world number one Laurens Devos and former world number one Marc Ledoux, fighting back from 2-0 down to secure their place in the final. In the all-British final, they made the better start, taking the first set 11-4, before Facey and Wilson leveled the match. However, McKibbin and Stacey held their nerve to clinch the final two sets and win 3-0.

Elsewhere, Bly Twomey and Fliss Pickard claimed silver in the women’s class 14 doubles, while Billy Shilton and Paul Karabardak, as well as Martin Perry and Grace Williams, earned bronze medals in the men’s class 14 and mixed class 14 events respectively.
The strong performances from the British table tennis players at the ITTF Slovenia Para Open bode well for their preparations ahead of the Paralympic Games in Paris later this year.
