The stage is set for the highly anticipated Mark Bates Ltd Cadet, U17, and Junior Nationals in Nottingham next month. This prestigious event promises to showcase the rising talent in the world of table tennis, with a lineup of promising young athletes set to compete across various age categories.
One of the standout participants is Tianer Yu, who recently made waves at the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships, winning the Under-21 Women’s Singles title and reaching the semi-finals in the Women’s Singles category. Yu, a newcomer to the age group Nationals, will be the top seed in the Junior Girls’ Singles, facing off against the likes of Sienna Jetha. The former champion, Anaya Patel, is no longer eligible, ensuring a new name will be engraved on the trophy.
In the Junior Boys’ Singles, defending champion Connor Green, who also clinched the under-21 title last month, will be the top seed, with last year’s Cadet champion, Ralph Pattison, hot on his heels. Under-17 singles events will feature Yu and Pattison as the respective top seeds, while Jetha and Max Radiven lead the Cadet rankings.
The competition, set to take place at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham on the weekend of May 4-5, will feature singles and doubles categories across the three age groups, as well as Mixed Doubles in the Juniors. Additionally, the event will host the Para Singles category, which was introduced last year.
Fans of the sport can look forward to an exciting and closely contested tournament, where the future stars of table tennis will showcase their skills and determination.
