SBL Premier Title Race Update: BATTS, Ormesby, Brighton TTC

The race for the SBL Premier crown is heating up, with three teams – Ormesby, BATTS, and Brighton TTC – just three matches away from clinching the league title. BATTS start as the favorites, having lost only one of their seven fixtures so far this season.

Brighton TTC and last season’s runners-up Ormesby both won six matches, while Ormeau secured their spot in the top mini-league thanks to the 15 points they picked up in the first half of the season.

On Saturday, Ormesby will host BATTS, with the visiting side looking to replicate their 5-2 victory from a few weeks ago. The BATTS team of Chris Doran, Ralph Pattison, and Luc Miller know that a win would put them in pole position to win the Premier Division for the first time. They will face a highly talented Ormesby team of David McBeath, Enio Mendes, and Sam Mabey.

Meanwhile, Brighton TTC will travel to Northern Ireland to take on Ormeau, aiming to register a second win over the home side. The Ormeau trio will be hoping to reverse the 5-2 defeat they suffered against the south-coast team in their previous encounter.

In the bottom half of the table, where teams are playing to avoid relegation:

  • North Ayrshire (NATTC) will visit Drumchapel Glasgow
  • TableTennisDaily will host Fusion

Colin Dalgleish, Hugo Torngren, and Martin Johnson will line up for NATTC, with a large crowd expected to cheer them on.

North Ayrshire’s Chris Main said,

“We will have a good number of supporters traveling up with the team, which will add to the atmosphere. It’s been a while since we played Drumchapel at Drumchapel, and it’s always a good match when two of Scotland’s top clubs compete against each other. With it being the first match of the split, we are hoping to start off with a win.”

Drumchapel Glasgow’s Chris Wheeler is relishing the challenge and is looking forward to the support of the home crowd.

“It’s great to have another opportunity to play in the Premier Division. It will be a challenge, but one that I’m looking forward to. Hopefully, with the help of a big crowd at the club on Saturday, we can get a result.”

In the day’s other fixture, TableTennisDaily will host Fusion, who secured an early-season 5-2 victory over the home team.

All the matches will be available to watch live on TTE.TV.
